Tips #2
When using embossing tinsel always shake the container
each time you use it. The powder is heavier than the tinsel and settles at
the bottom. Always use co-coordinating color pigment ink with tinsel
powders. Gives smoother, richer look.
Store dye based dual tipped markers flat. This way
both ends will stay wet longer.
Store dye based inkpads upside down. The surface will
stay wet longer and the color brighter.
When using a large stamp (4 inches square or larger)
always stand up. This way you get an even impression.
If rubber is mounted wrong (crooked or upside down) on wood, put in microwave
for a few seconds then reposition. Each microwave is different so start out
with 6-10 seconds.
Use old CD’s as a paint pallet. Works especially well
with dye based pad. Try using Kaleidacolor for a wide range of color.
Lightly touch surfaces of pad to CD then use regular paintbrush or Dove
Blender to
watercolor.
When you first start stamping make an inventory
notebook. Keep a record of the stamp company and stamp number. I also put
the date, it's fun to see how my taste in stamps have changed over the
years.
Also keep a record of your accessories. Using a
small solid image, stamp an image using each of your different pad colors
and embossing powders. This way you know exactly what shade a color is
or if you need a new color. Label each accessory with Brand Name and
Type. (i.e. - inkpads are available in Dye or Pigment Inks and from several
different manufacturers. This can aid in finding refills for you pads
and can help keep you from duplicating products or colors.)
